christmas quote ideas.

Christmas is the one time of year when people of all religions come together to worship Jesus Christ.     -Bart Simpson
I stopped believing is Santa Caus when my mother took me to see him in a department store, and he asked me for my autograph.   -Shirley Temple

reading for Nov 14.

when i was reading this i thought a lot about how people really do see basic shapes.  we don't need all kinds of detail in order to recognize an object.

i thought of type too.  you know the thing floating around the internet that just has the first and the last letters of a word and all the other letters scrambled inside the word, but it's still legible.
ie. grifafe  you can still recognize it as giraffe.  :)

Bitmap vs. Vector

Bitmap:
Pros-good for photos, when scaled down, the image gains/loses pixels in order to keep quality,
Cons- when scaled up, the image becomes diluted,

Vector:
Pros-easier to see sharp edges, will not lose quality because it's nothing but points and lines,
Cons-images must remain simple,

I'm going to vector my images, because they don't have a lot of detail.

stable- dominant form stands out clear to read what is dominant.  you look at one point first, and it seems to be separate from the background.
reversible- can invert; any one can be primary; can't see both at same time.
ambiguous- no discernible dominant feature. can't tell if there's white on black or black on white.
